Recommended Charging Settings
Batteries used outside Victron systems work best with the following settings:
- Absorption voltage: 28.4 V with at least 15 minutes absorption time per battery.
- Float voltage: 27.0 V
- Equalization: Off
- No temperature compensation
V2 Elite with Victron systems.
Connect the communication harness and indicator as follows:
- Plug with waterproof cap in the blue port of the master.
- RJ45 cable from the master black port to the slave1 blue port.
- RJ45 cable from the slave1 black port to the next slave’s blue port, and so on, to connect up to 16 batteries in parallel.
- Set the dip switches according to the manual.
- Grey RJ45 into the BMS-CAN port of the Cerbo or Ekrano GX; on the new Cerbo Mk2 use the grey connector in VE-CAN1 or VE-CAN2 and set the VE.Can port speed to 500 kbit/s LV.
GX device / touchscreen
- On the GX touchscreen, check that the Epoch battery appears in the device list. Click the battery row, then Details. Verify that the number of online modules matches the number of batteries installed and that the stated Ah matches the installed Ah.
- On the GX device/touchscreen, enable DVCC, set controlling BMS to Epoch and the battery monitor to Epoch.
- When charging (not when inverting), the inverter tile on the GX touchscreen should show External Control. The system automatically switches to 28.4 V absorption with at least about 15 minutes absorption time per battery, followed by 27.0 V float.
- We recommend manually setting the MultiPlus, Quattro and all other charge sources to the same parameters in case CAN communication is lost.
Over time, further refinements and improvements may be needed.
